Goodnight Mister Tom Chapter 15 Comprehension

This Goodnight Mister Tom Chapter 15 Comprehension for Whole Class Guided Reading includes differentiated questions and activities based on chapter fifteen of the popular novel by Michelle Magorian. We recommend using this novel with Year 5 & Year 6. In this chapter, Willie is sent home to visit his ill mother. Tom takes Willie to the station where they say their goodbyes. Both are clearly upset that WIllie is going home and find it difficult. On the train, Willie imagines what his mother's greeting will be like and hopes that she is happy to see him. When he gets to London, his mother doesn't recognise him as his physical appearance has changed so much in six months. Once back home with his mother, she shows him their new baby. Willie is concerned that the baby has tape over her mouth and is clearly upset but his mother forbids him from comforting her. Willie shows his new things to his mother, who believes he has stolen them or begged for them. When Willie tells her about his new friend Zach, who is Jewish, she beats him and locks him under the stairs. Willie wishes for Mister Tom to look after him again.
