National Curriculum Objectives

English Year 3 & Year 4: Plan their writing by discussing writing similar to that which they are planning to write in order to understand and learn from its structure, vocabulary and grammar.

English Year 5 & Year 6: Plan their writing by identifying the audience for and purpose of the writing, selecting the appropriate form and using other similar writing as models for their own.

 


Differentiation:

Beginner Text includes simple sentences. Children are required to identify examples of names, ages, locations and use of first person within the autobiography. Aimed at Year 3 Mastery/Year 4 Developing.

Easy Text includes simple sentences. Sentences are linked with simple conjunctions. Children are required to identify examples of names, ages, locations, use of first person and dates within the autobiography. Aimed at Year 4 Secure/Year 5 Emerging.

Tricky Text includes multi-clausal sentences that are linked with a range of conjunctions. Children are required to identify examples of names, ages, locations, use of first person, dates and past tense within the autobiography. Aimed at Year 4 Mastery/5 Developing.

Expert Text includes multi-clausal sentences that are linked with a range of conjunctions. The text includes rhetorical sentences, fronted adverbials and brackets. Children are required to identify examples of names, ages, locations, use of first person, dates, past tense and adjectives to describe people within the autobiography. Aimed at Year 5 Secure/Year 6 Emerging.

Brainbox Text includes multi-clausal sentences that are linked with a range of conjunctions. The text includes semi-colons, rhetorical sentences, fronted adverbials and brackets. Children are required to identify examples of names, ages, locations, use of first person, dates, past tense, adjectives to describe people and anecdotes within the autobiography. Aimed at Year 5 Mastery/Year 6 Developing.

Genius Text includes multi-clausal sentences that are linked with a range of conjunctions. The text includes semi-colons, rhetorical sentences, fronted adverbials and brackets.
