Matilda Text Marking an Autobiography

Help children to understand the structure, vocabulary and grammatical features of an autobiography with this Key Stage 2 Matilda Text Marking an Autobiography resource. We've used a familiar text, and included six levels of differentiation to support children across Key Stage 2 to recognised different elements of a text before applying them to their own writing. The level of language and features used in the texts increases in difficulty through the differentiated levels too.

You can use this with your whole class as a model text to show how different features are used in this text type. With the levels of differentiation, you can offer challenge and choice within your class and allow all children to access autobiographies. This can also be used in a small group, such as an intervention too. To complete the resource, an answer page is included for you to refer to throughout the lesson and give immediate feedback, or give this to children to act as a peer or self-assessment tool; the choice is yours!
