Add and Subtract 1s Lesson
This Year 2 Add and Subtract 1s lesson covers the prior learning of one more and one less , before moving onto the main skill of adding and subtracting 1s.
The lesson starts with a prior learning worksheet to check pupils’ understanding. The interactive lesson slides recap the prior learning before moving on to the main skill. Children can then practise further by completing the activities and can extend their learning by completing an engaging extension task.
National Curriculum Objective
Mathematics Year 2: (2C1) Recall and use addition and subtraction facts to 20 fluently, and derive and use related facts up to 100
Mathematics Year 2: (2C2a) Add and subtract numbers mentally, including: a two-digit number and ones
Mathematics Year 2: (2C3) Recognise and use the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction and use this to check calculations and missing number problems
