# Mixed Addition and Subtraction Lesson

This Year 6 Mixed Addition and Subtraction lesson covers the prior learning of adding a subtracting fractions where one or both fractions are mixed numbers or improper fractions, before moving onto the main skill of adding and subtracting mixed numbers and simplifying their answers.

The lesson starts with a prior learning worksheet to check pupils’ understanding. If they need more practice, you can choose other resources for the prior learning steps here and here. The interactive lesson slides recap the prior learning before moving on to the main skill. Children can then practise further by completing the activities and can extend their learning by completing an engaging extension task.
