Download this Blank Emotions Wheel to help encourage pupils to explore and name their feelings. Created for World Mental Health Day, children fill the wheel with different emotions, then reflect on how they are feeling right now.
The wheel has an inner ring of eight sections and an outer ring of sixteen, so pupils can record core emotions in the centre and related feelings around the edge. For example, they might write "happy" in the middle and "proud" and "pleased" in the outer sections beside it. Because the wheel is completely blank, the activity can be pitched at any level: younger pupils can draw faces or write simple feeling words, while older pupils can extend their emotional vocabulary with more precise words.
The sheet works well as a calm starter, a circle-time discussion prompt, a wellbeing check-in or part of a class display, and can be revisited throughout the year.
