Download this Constellations Whole School Assembly PPT to show children the different constellations of stars and what they meant to different cultures. World Astronomy Day is celebrated twice a year, in Spring and Autumn. The next two events are 27th September 2026 and 8th May 2027. This PPT features an introduction to the most well-known constellations we can see in the night sky from the UK, the different stories cultures made up about them and what a star actually is!
There are questions to provide opportunities for deeper thinking and discussion, followed by a reflection at the end and a list of possible activities to inspire further exploration. This makes our resource a great interactive option to use during a Science lesson or assembly about space, as general inspiration to be curious about the universe or to celebrate World Astronomy Day.
