This EYFS Animals Subitising Peg Cards activity enables children to practise their counting and numeral recognition in a familiar context. Children can work independently, in a group or alongside an adult to use subitising to find an amount. Children select the corresponding numeral by placing a clothes peg in the correct place. Alternatively, the cards showing number pieces can be provided which will support children's quick recognition of the maths manipulative.

It covers the following objectives for children in reception:

Count objects, actions and sounds

Subitise

Link the number symbol (numeral) with its cardinal number value
