This art activity introduces children to the life and work of Wassily Kandinsky before guiding them to create their own vibrant artwork inspired by his iconic abstract style.
Pupils will begin by learning who Kandinsky was, looking at examples of his famous abstract paintings and noticing the key features such as bold shapes, bright colours and patterns. Children are then encouraged to create their own Kandinsky-inspired artwork using shapes, lines and expressive colour choices.
The activity encourages creativity, confidence and individuality - there is no “right” outcome, just exploration and enjoyment. It is perfect as a quiet afternoon activity during the first week back at school or can be used as an art lesson at any time of year.
