This KS1 Van Gogh Inspired Art Activity introduces children to the life and work of Vincent van Gogh before guiding them to create their own vibrant sunflower artwork inspired by his iconic style. Pupils will begin by learning who van Gogh was, looking at examples of his famous paintings and noticing key features such as bold colours and expressive brushstrokes. Children are then encouraged to create their own sunflower painting. The activity encourages creativity, confidence and individuality - there is no “right” outcome, just exploration and enjoyment. It is perfect as a quiet afternoon activity during the first week back at school or can be used as an art lesson at any time of year.
