This KS2 Goodnight Mister Tom Chapter 23 Whole Class Guided Reading Pack includes differentiated questions and activities based on the twenty-third chapter of the novel by Michelle Magorian.
In the final chapter, Will has embraced his new personality and is finally happy again. Carrie comes to visit him and goes off to read while she waits for Will to finish planting vegetables in the garden. Will has been getting books from the library for Carrie to read as her mother won't let her read at home. They decide to ride the tandem bicycle down to the river but as Carrie has a dress on, she has to change into some shorts (a very uncommon clothing choice for girls during that time). They spend the day reading and drawing by the river and eventually head home when it gets dark. As Will is hanging up his coat, he notices the peg is much lower than it used to be. When he goes into the living room, he also notices that Tom is looking old and vulnerable. He suddenly realises that he is growing up.
This pack contains colour-coded questions to ensure clear differentiation, as well as differentiated challenge tasks focussed upon summarising, positive and negative themes, book reviews and personal opinions.
