Help your class discover what it really means to be a good friend with this engaging KS2 How to Be a Good Friend Teaching PPT. Children will explore what friendship is and isn't, learn why it's okay to say no, and find out how to put things right when they get it wrong. At the heart of the presentation are the Five Pillars of Friendship: Honesty and Trust, Kindness, Listening and Empathy, Respect and Fairness, and Putting Things Right. Together, they give pupils a simple, memorable way to think about how they treat others and how they deserve to be treated.

Every content slide ends with a thought-provoking question to spark discussion. Relatable real-life scenarios, such as noticing someone sitting alone or making a joke that goes too far, help children practise good choices in a safe space. A Friendship Challenge invites pupils to link everyday situations back to the five pillars. The presentation closes with a reflection that encourages each child to commit to one small, realistic action, followed by a list of activities to extend the learning.

Supportive teacher notes guide you through every slide, including advice on telling the difference between respecting privacy and keeping an unsafe secret, and reminders that children can always talk to a trusted adult. This makes it a brilliant choice for a PSHE lesson, a class or key stage assembly, or any time you want to build a kinder, more inclusive classroom. It also works well at the start of a new school year or during Anti-Bullying Week.
