This KS2 Rise and Read Cottingley Fairies resource includes four reading activities all about this twentieth-century former mystery. The pack includes an information text, a narrative, an image and a fact file. These are followed by questions that focus on a range of reading skills: retrieval, effect, vocabulary, inference and prediction. There is also an assessment-style question to accompany the final question.

It is suitable for use in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 and can be displayed on the whiteboard as early morning work, used in guided reading sessions or shared during assemblies. However you choose to use it, children will develop their reading skills while learning more about this spring festival.
