This KS2 Rise and Read May Day resource includes four reading activities all about the traditions of May Day. It is suitable for use in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 and can be displayed on the whiteboard as early morning work, used in guided reading sessions or shared during assemblies. However you choose to use it, children will develop their reading skills while learning more about this spring festival.

The pack includes an information text, a diary entry, an image and a letter. These are followed by questions that focus on a range of reading skills: retrieval, purpose, vocabulary, inference and prediction. There is also an assessment-style question which focuses on the effect of language.

This resource does not require any printing, as it has been specially designed to be displayed on the whiteboard.
