This Key Stage 2 Rise and Read Mother's Day resource includes four reading activities focused on Mother's Day. It is suitable for use in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 and could be displayed on the whiteboard as early morning work, used in reading or PSHE lessons or even as a stimulus in assemblies. However you choose to use it, children will not only sharpen their reading skills but also learn more about this special day.

The pack includes a short story, an information text, an image and a poem. These lead to questions which focus on a variety of reading skills: retrieval, purpose, vocabulary, inference and prediction. There is also an assessment style question with a focus on vocabulary.
