This KS2 Rise and Read Non-Fiction resource includes four reading activities focussing on non-fiction texts. It is suitable for use in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 and could be displayed on the whiteboard as early morning work or used in reading lessons. However you choose to use it, children will become more familiar with the genre and learn from its content.

The pack includes texts about sharks, Mount Kilimanjaro and Beatrix Potter so there is something for everyone. The image focuses on the features of a leaflet. These lead to questions which address a variety of reading skills: retrieval, purpose, vocabulary, inference and prediction. There is also an assessment style question about sequencing information in a biography.

This resource does not require any printing as it has been specially designed to be displayed on the whiteboard.
