This KS1 Rise and Read Non-Fiction resource includes four reading activities focussing on non-fiction texts. It is suitable for use in Years 1 and 2 and could be displayed on the whiteboard as early morning work or used in reading lessons. However you choose to use it, children will become more familiar with non-fiction texts as well as learning from their content.

The pack includes texts about toys, pets and playgrounds so there is something to interest everyone. The image focuses on how pictures are used with information texts. Questions address a variety of reading skills: retrieval, inference, vocabulary, purpose and summary. There is also an assessment style question with a focus on information retrieval.

This resource does not require any printing as it has been specially designed to be displayed on the whiteboard.
