This Tick the Word Meaning KS2 SATs GPS Test Practice is a great way to allow children in your class the opportunity to practise SATs-style questions. The question is based on question 3 from the 2016 Reading Sample KS2 and the 2018 Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling assessment. The resource has been differentiated three ways and uses a variety of prefixes at its core. Each of the resources are made up of twelve questions and an answer sheet has been provided to help save you just a little bit of time!


Curriculum Objectives

  • How the prefix un– changes the meaning of verbs and adjectives [negation, for example, unkind, or undoing: untie the boat]
  • Formation of nouns using a range of prefixes [for example super–, anti–, auto–] / Terminology for pupils: prefix
  • Word families based on common words, showing how words are related in form and meaning [for example, solve, solution, solver, dissolve, insoluble] / Terminology for pupils: word family
  • Verb prefixes [for example, dis–, de–, mis–, over– and re–]
