Do you need ready-made sentences to test your children's knowledge of direct speech? Give our Key Stage 2 Writing Direct Speech Test Practice a go. This resource includes three levels of differentiation and two tests per challenge level. Each test includes 9 sentences that need to be rewritten as a direct speech sentence. The use of scaffolding to support children to answer some questions across the differentiation.

Use this in class to assess children and identify gaps in their learning and inform future intervention groups. This can also be used as a homework task, or as a challenge or extension activity too. Every test includes an easy-to-follow answer page. This resource is suitable for all year groups across key stage 2. How you choose to use it is entirely up to you!

Differentiation:
Beginner Children to change reported speech to direct speech. Beginning of sentence, beginning of speech and punctuation given. Aimed at Year 3 Secure/Year 4 Emerging.
Easy Children to change reported speech to direct speech. Beginning of sentence given. Aimed at Year 4 Developing.
Tricky Children to change reported speech to direct speech. Aimed at Year 4 Secure.
