Explore the world of the Maya with this LKS2 Time Travel Adventure. Designed to be used after teaching our LKS2 The Maya History Unit, this resource will immerse pupils in the year 562 CE deep within the lands of the Maya civilisation in Mesoamerica.

The resource begins with a role play prompt for the whole class that is designed to be read alongside our Time Travel Adventure - The Ancient Maya Soundscape.

There are then five activities for pupils to engage in:

• Immersing: pupils identify artefacts from the era and consider their impact on the senses.

• Becoming: pupils swap modern and historical artefacts.

• Considering: pupils make decisions based on historic understanding.

• Planning and Reporting: Pupils plan a weekly diary and write a postcard to send home.

• Reflecting: Pupils answer questions based on their time travel experiences.

This resource is a fun way to end our The Maya history unit and, as it's linked to our history objectives, it's also a great way to assess pupils' understanding of the topic. For each activity, there are support and stretch suggestions to ensure all pupils can participate.
