Our Year 2 Divide By 2 resource has been created for children who are already confident in dividing by 2 and are in need of further challenge. These engaging discussion problems require children to use their knowledge of division facts and apply it to different contexts such as code cracking. Our discussion problems are most suited to paired or group work and are designed not only to build on knowledge but to develop reasoning and communication skills.

Curriculum Objectives

  • Recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables, including recognising odd and even numbers
  • Calculate mathematical statements for multiplication and division within the multiplication tables and write them using the multiplication (×), division (÷) and equals (=) signs
  • Solve problems involving multiplication and division, using materials, arrays, repeated addition, mental methods, and multiplication and division facts, including problems in contexts
