This Year 1 and Year 2 Rise and Read resource includes four reading activities focused on the famous civil rights leader, Martin Luther King. It is suitable for use in Years 1 and 2 and could be displayed on the whiteboard as early morning work, used in reading or PSHE lessons or even as a stimulus in assemblies. However you choose to use it, children will not only sharpen their reading skills but also learn more about this important man.
The pack includes an information text, a list, an image and a narrative. These lead to questions which focus on a variety of reading skills: retrieval, vocabulary, purpose, prediction and inference. There is also an assessment style question with a focus on sequencing events in a narrative.
This resource does not require any printing as it has been specially designed to be displayed on the whiteboard.
