Looking for an alternative way to teach comparing? Our Year 1 Compare Groups of Objects Supporting Activity will give you the inspiration you require! In this activity, children will estimate a comparison then count the objects to check their estimate. They are encouraged to record their comparisons using the inequality symbols.
This game is aimed to be done in pairs and can be completed in your lesson or as an intervention; the choice is yours!
Curriculum Objectives
- Count to and across 100, forwards and backwards, beginning with 0 or 1, or from any given number
- Count, read and write numbers to 100 in numerals
- Identify and represent numbers using objects and pictorial representations including the number line, and use the language of: equal to, more than, less than (fewer), most, least
- Compare and order numbers from 0 up to 100; use <, > and = signs
