What’s included in the Year 1 Full and Empty Homework resource and why is it useful?

Year 1 Full and Empty Homework is a worksheet to consolidate this step after it has been taught, at home or in class. The content includes two varied fluency questions, one problem solving question and a full answer sheet, covering describing volume and capacity using full, nearly full, nearly empty and empty, and comparing four bottles.

Expected

  • Q1 using a word bank to label the volume of liquid in four cups as full, nearly full, nearly empty or empty.
  • Q2 completing sentences to say which of four bottles has the largest and the smallest capacity.
  • Q3 explaining how two children can both be correct when one compares the capacity of two containers and the other compares the volume of liquid inside.

How do our maths homework resources work?

Our maths homework resources are not part of our adaptive maths resources, but they can be used alongside for consolidation purposes and to give children more opportunities to practise.
