Before children are introduced to the terms greater than, less than and equal to, it is important they are secure with the steps that lead up to using these comparison terms. And so, we've created this Year 1 Less than, Greater than, Equal to activity as a precursor to approaching the Year 1 Less than, Greater than, Equal to step. The resource focuses on using the language of more and fewer to compare two sets of objects; finding one more or one less from a group of up to five objects, then ten objects; and counting reliably with numbers from one to 20, in order to say which number is one more or one less than a given number.
