• Q2: Problem Solving – create two possible comparison statements using the number/symbol cards given.

• After completing the Varied Fluency worksheet, children are now ready for their Reasoning and Problem Solving work.

• Children can complete the Reasoning and Problem Solving worksheet or deepen and apply their knowledge within the Continuous Provision .

• The Reasoning and Problem Solving worksheet can be accessed independently or with adult support.

• Within the PowerPoint, the final slide poses a Real Life Problem relating to the concept Less than, Greater than, Equal to, which provides opportunities for deeper discussion and more complex discussion.

• Across all Year 1 maths resources, challenge is also provided through adult questioning and reasoning rather than levelled tasks, in line with mastery principles.
