An image of the Punctuating Sentences Guidance Resource

Are your class ready to tackle punctuation when writing sentences? Use our Year 1 Punctuating Sentences Guidance to offer you support in ordering a sequence of lessons, and to help you deliver each individual lessons to a high quality. This resource starts off with a timetable to suggest where in the year this unit of work could be taught. It then gives an overview of what objectives are covered in this guidance, followed by an individual page for each proposed lesson. The lessons include the alphabet, lower and upper case letters, using capital letters and punctuating sentences.

Each small step or lesson guidance page includes a notes and guidance section that covers what children should be aware of before they begin the lesson, and what the children are expected to know at the end of the lesson. A series of focused questions are included for you to use too. This guidance links to the corresponding resources for this lesson, and these include worksheets, teaching resources and much more!
