This Year 3 Add Fractions resource is based on a previous step, the Year 3 Making the Whole step. The resource has been created to ensure that children feel confident and secure when beginning to add fractions. There are six questions, three varied fluency questions and three reasoning and problem-solving questions, each of which place making the whole into different contexts. An answer sheet has also been provided to speed up the marking process!

Curriculum Objectives

  • Recognise, find and write fractions of a discrete set of objects: unit fractions and non-unit fractions with small denominators
  • Add and subtract fractions with the same denominator within one whole [for example, 5/7 + 1/7 = 6/7 ]
