Are you looking for problem-solving and reasoning questions to support the teaching of equivalent lengths? Our Year 3 Equivalent Lengths (Centimetres and Millimetres) Reasoning and Problem-Solving resource challenges children to apply their existing knowledge to a range of real-life contexts. This resource is differentiated 3 ways and each contains 6 questions. Worksheets can be completed independently, in pairs or cut up to create challenge cards.

Differentiation:

Developing: Questions to support converting from mm to cm and vice versa. Lengths in

multiples of 5mm. Scaffolding provided and all increments shown on a ruler.

Expected: Questions to support converting from mm to cm and vice versa. Lengths in

increments of 1mm. All increments shown on a ruler.

Greater Depth: Questions to support converting from mm to cm and vice versa. Lengths in

increments of 1mm, using 0 as a place holder in the tens columns for some lengths and

use of halves. Some ruler increments shown and some use of unconventional partitioning.

Curriculum Objectives

  • Compare lengths (m/cm/mm)
  • Measure lengths (m/cm/mm)
