If you're after open-ended problem-solving questions for those budding mathematicians in your class who have mastered the concept of right angles, this Year 3 Right Angles challenge resource is the activity for you! It provides two questions that invite investigation, the application of right angles knowledge and, if done in a group, a sprinkling of mathematical discussion on top! That's not to say it can't be done by individuals, or with an adult as a discussion partner, or as homework... How you use it is up to you!

This pack also includes a helpful example answer sheet, so you or your children can quickly check that their answers are on the right lines. Perfect!

Curriculum Objectives

  • Recognise that angles are a property of shape or a description of a turn
  • Identify right angles, recognise that two right angles make a half-turn, three make three quarters of a turn and four a complete turn; identify whether angles are greater than or less than a right angle
