Help children understand the importance of diet with this Year 3 Why is Diet Important? PowerPoint.
In this lesson, pupils will review the five main food groups learnt in Year 2 and recap what a balanced diet is, then learn about those who choose different types of diets: vegetarians, pescatarians and vegans. Their tasks are to sort food into the five main food groups then plan a menu that would cater for people with a range of dietary requirements.
National Curriculum Objectives:
Identify that animals, including humans, need the right types and amount of nutrition, and that they cannot make their own food; they get nutrition from what they eat.
