Allow children to develop and consolidate their understanding of identifying factor pairs with this Year 4 Factor Pairs resource. We've created one problem solving style question and two reasoning style questions, with two examples of each question type, for children to put their knowledge to the test. This resource has been differentiated three ways to support all learners. See below for a brief outline of how our differentiation challenges children of all abilities:
Developing: Questions include known facts of the 3, 4, 6 and 8 times table.
Expected: Questions include knowledge of known times table facts.
Greater Depth: Questions include times tables up to and beyond 12x, by using their knowledge of known multiplication facts.
All levels of differentiation allow children to explore the relationship between factor pairs and odd and even numbers in at least one question style.
Use this resource in class as part of children's independent learning time following a set of varied fluency style questions. Alternatively, you could incorporate this into an intervention programme with a small, adult-led group to further develop children's skills or offer more support where needed. A fully explained answer sheet is provided to aid marking too.
