Use this Year 4 Present Data in Bar Charts (Recap) Reasoning and Problem Solving resource to give your pupils a chance to test their knowledge of bar charts with some problem solving.

There are two reasoning questions which require them to examine a bar chart and decide whether it has been created correctly. They then explain their reasoning using mathematical language. The problem solving question focuses on selecting an appropriate scale for a given data set and ensures that pupils understand the importance of this key point. Each of the three questions has two similar parts to promote confidence.

The questions in this resource are spread over two pages to ensure that tables and bar charts can be easily interpreted. The answer sheet for both question pages is provided on a single page.

A varied fluency resource is also available for this small step.

Curriculum Objectives
