Use this Year 5 Compare Volume Varied Fluency resource to give your class practice counting cubes to measure and compare the volume of shapes.
The first question supports their use of mathematical vocabulary by providing stem sentences to make a comparison. They progress to comparing shapes using comparison symbols and then, in the final question, order shapes according to their volume. Each question has two similar parts to promote fluency.
This resource is spread over two pages to allow pupils to see cubes clearly and count them accurately.
An answer sheet is provided to enable busy teachers to mark work quickly and pupils to mark their own work. The answers to all questions are shown on one page.
A reasoning and problem solving resource is also available for this small step.
