This Year 5 Estimate Volume with Cuboids Varied Fluency resource will help children develop the ability to estimate volume using one centimetre cubes.
Each of the three questions presents them with an image of a cuboid and asks them to estimate its volume by comparing it to one centimetre cubes. How many one centimetre cubes would cover the bottom of the cuboid? How many layers would fit together to fill it?
Each question has two similar parts to promote fluency and an answer page is provided for teachers and pupils who are marking their own work.
A reasoning and problem solving resource is available for this small step.
