Estimate Capacity Varied Fluency

Worksheet
An image of the Estimate Capacity Varied Fluency Resource

This Year 5 Estimate Capacity Varied Fluency resource will help your class to understand the difference between volume and capacity and the units that are used to measure them. Each of the three questions will help children develop their ability to estimate the capacity of various containers, using the volume of liquid they can see contained in them as a benchmark.

Every question has two similar parts and there is an answer page to assist teachers and pupils who are marking their own work. The answer page displays answers as an estimate using the approximation symbol.

A reasoning and problem solving resource is also available for this small step.

Curriculum Objectives

  • Estimate volume [for example, using 1 cm3 blocks to build cuboids (including cubes)] and capacity [for example, using water]
