Use this Year 5 The First Quadrant Varied Fluency resource to allow your class to develop confidence when working with coordinates in the first quadrant.

The first question secures their ability to read coordinate points accurately and the second asks them to plot them. In the final question, they draw a quadrilateral by joining three points then predicting where the fourth will lie.

There are two similar parts to each question to promote fluency and an answer sheet to help teachers and pupils who are marking their own work.

A fluency matrix and a reasoning and problem solving resource are also available for this small step.
