Consolidate understanding of the mean by using this resource.

This Year 6 Understand and Calculate the Mean Fluency Matrix helps children understand that the mean is a type of average, and the most commonly-used average (the others are mode and median). Children will learn that the mean is found by finding the total of a set of numbers then dividing by the number of items. Over nine questions that gradually increase in challenge, children will calculate the mean using whole numbers and decimals, solve word problems and find missing numbers linked to a set of items when handling the mean. All answers are also included so that marking is as easy as possible!

A reasoning and problem solving resource and varied fluency worksheet are also available for this small step.
