This Year 6 Understand and Calculate the Mean Reasoning and Problem Solving worksheet helps children understand that the mean is a type of average, and the most commonly-used average (the others are mode and median). Children will learn that the mean is found by finding the total of a set of numbers then dividing by the number of items. They will reason whether a child's calculation is correct or not then use information to calculate possible missing numbers from a set; finally they will use clues to identify possible missing numbers from a set. All answers are also included so that marking is as easy as possible!
