Using Dashes to Mark Boundaries Application

Worksheet

This imaginative Year 6 Using Dashes to Mark Boundaries Application activity allows your children to put into practice what they have learnt about using dashes. This activity provides a visual stimulus and children are then challenged to write a story extract about their journey to the summit of a mountain. They have to include dashes to mark the boundary between two independent clauses, adding parenthesis, showing stammering and showing ranges.

Children can complete this activity independently, in pairs or with adult support. We have also provided a modelled answer that you can either share with your class as a good example or use as inspiration for your marking.
