Worksheet

Challenge your children to write a scary story using an image as inspiration. An old wooden door, covered in cobwebs, in the dark sets the scene for your children to write a scary story about what they may find behind the door. When writing their story children are asked to include examples of a range of different uses for colons, semicolons and dashes. This Year 6 Using Punctuation to Mark Boundaries Application resource allows for an extended piece of writing to be completed whilst demonstrating the skill of using punctuation to mark boundaries. An example answer has been provided to aid with your marking. It could also be used as a model text for your class to analyse and identify the use of punctuation to mark boundaries.
