Developing Add the correct punctuation to the sentence. Using ‘said’ and opening inverted commas provided. Speech is written before the reporting clause.
Expected Add the correct punctuation to the sentence. Using synonyms for said. Speech is written after the reporting clause.
Greater Depth Add the correct punctuation to the sentences. Two sentences both containing direct speech. Speech is written both before and after the reporting clause.
Questions 2, 5 and 8 (Varied Fluency)
Developing Check sentences containing direct speech have been correctly punctuated. Circle any errors. Sentences use ‘said’ and ‘asked’ and speech is written before the reporting clause.
Expected Check sentences containing direct speech have been correctly punctuated. Circle any errors. Sentences use synonyms for ‘said’ and speech is written both before and after the reporting clause.
Greater Depth Check direct speech involving a conversation between two people has been correctly punctuated. Circle any errors. Sentences use synonyms for ‘said.’ Speech is written both before and after the reporting clause or the direct speech is written in two parts, with the reporting clause in between.
