These EYFS Map Templates help young children explore what a place looks like from above. The clear, open spaces allow children to draw and add their own features such as houses, flats, parks, shops, supermarkets, hospitals and churches.

Children can create their own village, town or city by deciding where buildings and green spaces should go. This supports early understanding of communities, places and the world around them. The maps encourage talk, imagination and early mark-making as children explain what they have added and why.

The templates can be enlarged to A3 size for younger children, giving them plenty of space to draw and work together. Completed maps can be placed side by side to begin simple discussions about how different places look and what we might find in each one.
