This EYFS Subitising worksheet enables children to develop the skill of subitising amounts up to 5 by exploring the question of how many are there? This worksheet can be completed independently, in a group or with adult support. Practitioners should encourage children to quickly recognise the quantity and record their answer in the box provided. If children are not able to form numerals then making a mark that represents the numeral is acceptable. Alternatively, small number cards could be provided to allow children to select the number to place in the appropriate box.

Link the number symbol (numeral) with its cardinal number value


Curriculum Objectives

  • Have a deep understanding of number to 10, including the composition of each number
  • Subitise (recognise quantities without counting) up to 5
  • Automatically recall (without reference to rhymes, counting or other aids) number bonds up to 5 (including subtraction facts) and some number bonds to 10, including double facts
