This KS1 Rise and Read resource includes four reading activities focused on the artist, L. S. Lowry. It is suitable for use in Years 1 and 2 and could be displayed on the whiteboard as early morning work, used in reading or even as a stimulus in assemblies. However you choose to use it, children will not only sharpen their reading skills but also learn more about this famous artist.

The pack includes an information text, a narrative, an image and a diary entry. These lead to questions which focus on a variety of reading skills: retrieval, inference, vocabulary, purpose and prediction. There is also an assessment-style question which focuses on vocabulary.

This resource does not require any printing, as it has been specially designed to be displayed on the whiteboard.
