This KS1 Rise and Read Traditions of Bonfire Night resource includes four reading activities focused on the traditions of Bonfire Night. It is suitable for use in Years 1 and 2 and could be displayed on the whiteboard as early morning work, used in reading or PSHE lessons or even as a stimulus in assemblies. However you choose to use it, children will not only sharpen their reading skills but also learn more about this event.

The pack includes an information text, a set of instructions, an image and a diary entry. These lead to questions which focus on a variety of reading skills: retrieval, inference, vocabulary, purpose and prediction. There is also an assessment style question with a focus on selecting true or false statements based on the text.

This resource does not require any printing as it has been specially designed to be displayed on the whiteboard.
