This KS2 Rise and Read Purim resource includes four reading activities focused on the Jewish festival of Purim. It is suitable for use in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 and could be displayed on the whiteboard as early morning work, used in reading or science lessons or even as a stimulus in assemblies. However you choose to use it, children will not only sharpen their reading skills but also learn more about this famous woman.

The pack includes two information texts, an image and a narrative. These lead to questions which focus on a variety of reading skills: retrieval, purpose, vocabulary, inference and prediction. There is also an assessment-style question which focuses on selecting true and false statements based on the text.

This resource does not require any printing, as it has been specially designed to be displayed on the whiteboard.
