Our KS2 War Horse Chapter 10 Whole Class Guided Reading Pack includes differentiated questions and activities based on chapter ten of the popular novel by Michael Morpurgo. We recommend using this novel with Year 5 & Year 6.
In this chapter, Joey and Topthorn settle into their new roles pulling the ambulance cart. Each day they carry the wounded soldiers from the front line back to the hospital tent and each night they are cared for by young Emilie and her Grandfather. Over winter, Emilie becomes ill with pneumonia. While Joey and Topthorn are pulling the cart through the snow, the soldiers realise it is Christmas Day. When they return to their stable that night, Emilie's grandfather tells them she has pulled through.
This pack contains colour-coded questions to ensure clear differentiation, as well as differentiated challenge tasks focussed upon commas, hyphens to show parenthesis, synonyms and subordinate clauses.
