Encourage children to develop their geographical fieldwork skills with this Lower Key Stage 2 Pedestrian Survey Geography Fieldwork PowerPoint.

The resource prompts Year 3 and Year 4 children to think about their local high street and how many people use it. They will then be introduced to the concept of a pedestrian survey (with some etymology about the root word ped-) and why these are useful. They will discuss where and how long for the survey should be carried out, and how to record results (via a tally). After being introduced to the method, they will then carry out their pedestrian survey fieldwork! Upon returning, some questions are provided to promote deeper understanding.

A blank recording sheet is provided to be printed for ease of use. Please ensure that any required risk assessments are carried out.

Results can then be developed further via the follow-on lesson Understanding Our Pedestrian Survey.

Download today to help your children develop their data collection and fieldwork skills.
