What number is one more than 4? Is 3 one less than 2 or one more? Your class will be able to answer such pertinent questions with this Year 1 Count One More and One Less activity, which is made up of six different activities to help your children get to grips with the key skill of counting one more and one less. The tasks include, but are not limited to, a sand task, a fine-motor task and a stamp task. A short brief and some prompts are given to help make set up easy so you can quickly enhance your provision area.


Curriculum Objectives

  • Count to and across 100, forwards and backwards, beginning with 0 or 1, or from any given number
  • Count, read and write numbers to 100 in numerals
  • Identify and represent numbers using objects and pictorial representations including the number line, and use the language of: equal to, more than, less than (fewer), most, least
  • Given a number, identify one more and one less
